10/06/2007: "Happy Thanksgiving"

Golden Moments and making memories.
It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada.
The smell of pumpkins, turkey and stuffing is in the air!
I heard the weatherman say that later on today, the weather was going to be ho-hum.
Finally, Summer seems to be over and we're getting some real, brisk, crisp, clean and clear Fall weather.
To me, there's nothing nicer.
I was determined to catch the morning sun with the chowdren and make some wonderful memories.
The early bird catches the worm!
It's 7:30 am, here I am all alone with the chowdren to greet the morning sun. One has to be a bit of an early bird to enjoy these splendors, and luckily for me, I am. I packed up the chowdren in the car and off we went to the woods for a morning jaunt. I loved every moment. There was no one except us, the sun, the rustle of the leaves, the pristeen air, and Mother Nature.
Blind chow Merlin leads blind pei Peanut to the shoreline. I think he's trying to convince Peanut that swimming is a fun thing. I seriously think she'll disagree, but you can't blame a guy for trying. Like a faithful wife, she follows him to the ends of the earth. er hem... I'd like you all to take notice how my blind dogs are OVER there... and not following me like sheep. They are out there, on their own, enjoying life!
Naturally, MeiMei has always got to be the "first", one to reach "anywhere". She thinks life is race and is always trying to be first in line. She usually ends up "first in line", for an earfull of Mommy scolds.
"Ok Merlin! Why am I leading YOU now?" - "Isn't this role reversal?" - "Are you coming?", says Peanut
Why are those chowdren always taking off? Hey, where's Peanut? Guys!!! Come back over here.. we have to get going!
Darn!!! it NEVER fails... he always has to get in that *&^ water!!! Oh Merlin!!! now I have to put you back in the car while you're all wet and full of sand! *sigh* GET OUT OF THE WATER YOU AQUA CHOW!!!!
Let's face it. I was out there to give thanks. After all this IS Thanksgiving Weekend. It means many things to many people, but to me, it is truly a time for me to say THANK YOU.
I gave thanks that I could walk again to see all this beauty
I gave thanks that we live such a wonderful life that we live
I gave thanks that I have a beautiful, wonderful family
I gave thanks that I am so surrounded by people who love me, and who I can love in return
I gave thanks to be able to enjoy all these wonderful things.
Life could have been so different.
............. and I wasn't let down........... I DID have my Golden Moment, when I saw for the first time ever, Little Peanut RUN at top speed towards me.
Check out this little wonder!.. she's blind... she's running like there's no tomorrow. I'm only sorry that I didn't make a movie of it. I now know I'll have other oopportunities to do this anyways.
Ok my little starlette, sit still for a minute and let me immortalize you in pixels!!!!
Let me show those bastards who tossed you out to die, just what a beautiful, glamorous, glorious little person you are!! Pray I NEVER , EVER meet them.
Ma Raison D'Etre! Merlin, (oh he's so darn capable), bekons us to follow as he leads the way to the car.
He knows the drill.... walkies... then COOKIES!!!! Merlin forever obsessed with his cookies.
Come on MeiMei... time to go! You can come and play tomorrow morning again. We're going to try to convince Dawn-I-Poo to join us with Pebbles so that the two of you can run like crazy... that way you won't be the only one at your party.
Merlin, your directions are a bit off. I don't think you'll find the car that way.
Yes you two, come on back this way, and CAREFUL - take your time. No Running... especially you Peanut (nope, just joking... run all ya want dear)
We're safely and soundly back at home. Everyone's excited because they all get a nice helping of Caribou bones to chew on. Next to heavenly walks... are heavenly bones.
I'm going to bake some more apple pies so Merlin has something valuable to guard, tonight weather permitting I'll have an outdoor fire going with some Irish Coffees and good company and more golden moments.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Enjoy a memorable, safe and happy weekend.
Just think of chow and pei tummies full of turkey and stuffing!
