07/28/2008: "Happy July Moments"

I'm engrossed in my element. Yessirreeeeeeeeee this is the place for me. My home away from home. I've missed this so dearly.
I hear we're coming back to this for the rest of the Summer. You have no idea how happy I am.
AND.... gas here is a paltry $1.17 a liter, instead of Montreal's absurd $1.50/liter. That difference buys me a lot more bones to chew on!
Our Home Away From Home
Imagine Mom's surprise when we arrived and, "adopted son", George presented Mom with a brand new pony named: Millie!
(Personally I'm not too impressed with Millie) (She doesn't move around much and not a good nugget producer if you ask me)
(SOmething tells me Mom isn't too impressed with Millie either)

We quickly set up our temporary home right on the edge of the polo fields. Mom says she wants to get up in the morning, sip espresso and watch the horses being ponied around the track and listen to their hooves thundering on the ground.

After a quick word with the stable management, I replaced 'useless', Mille with a real Nugget Factory model. I'm going to see if I can tie this one to the trailer! Yes... you just tie that Nugget machine right over here! Perfect. Thank you!

This is Ranger. He's our retired polo pony. He's 35 years old this year and still going strong. Many people don't know that polo ponies live a long, long life. Doesn't he look great for his age?

There were several matches this past weekend and my Mom umpired the Sunday game.

Many of the polo fields in eastern North America are underwater and not being used. The rain is making it very difficult for everyone here. When the fields are underwater, it's too dangerous for the ponies, and also the fields get ruined, because the ground is too soft.
Even the farmers are complaining that they can't make hay. If they don't get a solid week of sunshine soon, they will lose the second hay harvest. Everyone is very stressed over that this year. This means there won't be alot of good hay for this Winter and the price will go up tremendously. People will have to supplement with other types of foods. It will mean higher costs for everyone.
I got to meet the Ambassador to Argentina in the clubhouse. He tried to touch my head and of course I growled at him! Is he for real? Can't he see that I"m a proud, standoffish, chow chow? Mom had to ask him not to do that, especially since I'm blind and couldn't see his hand coming. I think he understood and forgave me. He told me how handsome I was, then he offered me some roast beef.... then I fell in love with him, dropped my silly pride and offered my paw. It worked! I got more beef! Boy, I had him trained in no time flat!

This little guy is Apollo. He's an 8 month old dalmation who was rescued. He's living the good life. Here we are running down the fields for our morning exercise. He's a nice guy. I told him about MeiMei. I think MeiMei would love to meet Apollo. MeiMei didn't come this weekend because she got into a spat with Captain, and Captain won the spat, so she's at home resting. Mom says that stables aren't the best places for dogs with holes and puctures in their skin. She'll probably come along next weekend.

Anyways, we had a great weekend. My favorite team won. The Blue Team. Maybe they'll win next weekend too. We'll see. I'll be there, so I'll let you know! I'll tell Mom to, "go easy", on those guys too!

Just like Sir Winston Churchill said: "The best thing for the inside of a chow, is the outside of a horse", and according to Mom; "Nothing beats 2000 pounds of moving meat between her legs all weekend long"!
Yep..... I'm the happiest chow chow on the planet! I feel like a chowling again.
