10/01/2008: "Peanut is at The Bridge"

Today our beloved Peanut has travelled to The Bridge.
She is in the arms of Angels.



Our morning routine is with heaviest of hearts.
We woke up to find out beloved Peanut at The Bridge.
Merlin was beside her looking over her.

Last night Peanut was her same old self.
She went for her little walk, she even got into spats with Babel
and she came to me for cuddles.

I said goodnight to her the way I always do and she looked at me with great endearment.
She did ask for extra long scritchies so I sat on the floor for a good time rubbing her all over.
My son came home around 3:00 am, and he also said that she came to him and looked at him with endearment.
He said he also gave her much affection and she sat there without moving.

This morning she was set free.

We love you Peanut.
Even though there are tears in my eyes and my heart breaks in pain I know you are in a wonderful place.

Left for dead in a garbage by evil people, then found by a good samaritan who inadvertently took you to LA's North Central kill center with hopes that you would be saved; -From the moment we set our eyes on your sweet, sweet face we fell in love with you forever.

Our little comedienne, our little spitfire, our little blind girl, our little sweet old lady, may she live on in the hearts and memories of all who she has touched with her presence.

Peeny_weeny

Every morning we sat outside having our morning coffee.
This morning was no different. I spoke to my Peeny like I always do.
There, in my lap in her blanket I told her all of my daily plans, asked her to be good and not to hard on Merlin today, and promised her that we'd be together again tonight when I get home. Together we will build her garden out in the front under the birch tree, right next to SassyGirl.

Sorry for your loss - same thing happened with our Bisquit - 13-years-old at the time, she seemed okay but was found at the Bridge when we came home - looked like she was sleeping but did not awake - not easy but it is better than having to make the choice for them as we did with Spuds and a few others before him.

The pictures are wonderful,how great to have those..
She sure was loved and had more clothes and adventures then most kids.
I can not believe how little she was when you first got her....The pictures show just how much love she recieved in your care.We all know the lengths you went for your special blind girl.....

I still cry whenever I read about Lil Peanut. From the beginning of Peanut's rescue till the morning she passed she was a part of everyone's life here at the Pei Cafe. I miss hearing about her daily adventures and the newest addition to her wardrobe. Peanut may be gone but she is surely not forgotten, her spirit is alive in us all & our Pei. She is what rescue is all about. When I get overwhelmed with the daily onslaught of Pei being thrown away like trash,when I feel like I can't do it anymore it's Teeny Peeny,my little Scarlett, April-May, Maya,& the rescues who have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge, that make it worth the heartache & tears to keep trying to save one Pei & Chow at time. Peanut is sorely missed. We all loved her.

Gosh the tears are just streaming down my face. My heart hurts for you. To grieve for someone that is so entirely dependant on you just hursts that much more. The loss must be so much more obvious. She looked like her days were so full and you obvoiusly showed her unbelievable love.
